This just in: Netflix canceled this well-reviewed, widely viewed series from the Duffer brothers that came off like a “Stranger Things” for seniors. Could it be that the streamer got its nose out of joint when the Duffers ditched the streamer for a new deal at Paramount?

It’s been called “Stranger Things” for seniors. Something for retirees to discuss at their next AARP meeting. Condescending much? All eight episodes of season one of “The Boroughs,” the sci-fi suspenser now streaming on Netflix, feature actors with the experience to show how it’s done, how craft is practiced, how sub-standard screenwriting can be lifted above clichés through their timing, shading and sheer performing prowess. No apologies needed or handicaps offered about how good Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Bill Pullman and the rest of the cast are good for their age. They’re good period.
