If a film, TV series or novel has the byline Dennis Lehane, I’m in. Four of Lehane’s crime novels have been adapted into noteworthy films: 2003’s “Mystic River” directed by Clint Eastwood, 2010’s “Shutter Island” directed by Martin Scorsese, and 2007’s “Gone Baby Gone” and 2016’s “Live By Night,” both directed by Ben Affleck. There’s a haunting, hypnotic quality to Lehane’s writing that makes him a natural for screen adaptation.
