Spotlight: “Chad Powers”

Dreamboy Glen Powell plays two football quarterbacks in this sports sitcom. Only one is a dirtbag, but the series still fails to score.

The idea has possibilities. I’m talking about “Chad Powers,” the new Hulu sitcom starring the sizzling hot Glen Powell (“Hitman,” “Top Gun: Maverick”) as a disgraced Oregon college quarterback named Russ Holliday. Russ flamed out at the Rose Bowl and knocked over a cancer kid in a wheelchair on live TV. To get ahead of the career-crushing narrative, Russ borrows a kit from his makeup-artist father Mike (Toby Huss), and uses a shaggy wig, a putty nose and prosthetics to pass himself off as nice-guy college recruit Chad Powers.
