★★★ (3 out of 4)
There are few things that delight me more as a critic than seeing Nicolas Cage go full body and mind unhinged. And here in “Spider Noir,” Cage’s first lead role in a television series, I get my wish. That’s high praise. You’ll get your wish, too, if you’re on the same wavelength. Prime Video and MGM+ present the series in eight episodes of 45 minutes each, giving us the choice to see it in True-Hue color or authentic black-and-white. I went back and forth to make my decision. Noirish monochrome won my final vote, no contest. If you’re scratching your heads thinking, what the hell is “Spider Noir,” I’m at your service.
