Ask me if Anya Taylor-Joy is a star and I’ll pound a handy table with a resounding YES! Ever since her breakthrough 2015 debut in “The Witch,” Anya (it’s pronounced Anne with a ya after it) moved on to show her brains (“The Queen’s Gambit”), brawn(“Furiosa”) or a combo of both in the black comedy of “The Menu.” Luminous and lovely and hard-assed in a way that belies her slender body and doe-eyed fragility, Taylor-Joy is a star worth watching in anything. “Lucky,” now streaming its dirty secrets and sneaky lies on Apple TV+, isn’t just anything. It’s an efficient, devilishly entertaining crime thriller that keeps you guessing and thinking about it long after the final credits. Is that enough to hold your attention for seven, one-hour episodes? Three words: Bet your ass.
