This July 16 will mark the date 26 years ago when John F. Kennedy Jr, 38, and his wife Carolyn Bessette, 33, died in a plane crash—a storybook romance flamed out in tragedy. Of course, real-life seldom follows the patterns of storybook fables. So now, producer Ryan Murphy, as part of his new series, “American Love Story,” hopes to tell the story true on a show slated to premiere Valentine’s Day 2026 on FX, with streaming on Hulu.
