Think back to 2001 when Reese Witherspoon became an A-lister after starring in “Legally Blonde.” As Elle Woods, an L.A. Valley Girl turned brainy Harvard legal eagle—I loved how she hired a Coppola to direct her admissions video— Witherspoon was only partially believable but totally irresistible. That’s star power, baby.
Lightning does not strike twice for Lexi Minetree in “Elle,” the Prime Video series that acts as an origin story for Minetree’s take on Elle. And this despite the fact that the eight-episode series is executive produced by Witherspoon’s own production company, Hello Sunshine.”
