That’s a tough mountain to climb, Dr. Joan. Since before “Sinners, the record was 14 nominations, which I think Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus can match. In the sure thing department, I’d rank Chirstopher Nolan for Best Director, Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. The screenplay nod could be tricky since Nolan is notorious for subtracting depth from his female characters. But this is “The Odyssey,” folks, with a script sourced from Homer, a pillar in the world of Greek literature. Also in it to win it is Dutch cinematographer Hoyte Van Hoytema, who recently won for Nolan’s “Oppenheimer.” And you must remember that “The Odyssey” is the first film to be shot entirely on those humungous Imax cameras. Impressive, even for Oscar voters.
