I have a theory about TV remakes of Oscar-winning movies: if you can do better or just as well from a different angle, by all means proceed. “Amadeus” now streaming for five long and winded episodes, fails on both counts. Oh, it still looks and sounds sumptuous on Starz, available by subscription only. But it also stands in the shadow of a masterpiece it can only look at in awe and gutting envy.
